Amherst Task Force
 

Meets on the third Thursday of each month from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.


 

Appomattox Literacy Intervention Program
 

Meets on the second Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Appomattox.
 

Bedford County Task Force
 

Meets quarterly.  Check back for dates.

Campbell County Child Development Task Force 

 

Meets on the third Thursday, every other month at 9:30 in Rustburg.  Location varies.
 

Lynchburg Task Force
 

Meets every other month or more often as activities dictate.

​SBCV COMMITTEES

Leadership Council

 

 

The Leadership Council is the governing body of SBCV determines policy and focuses on long-term sustainability.

 

The council meets every other month, although additional meetings may be held if deemed necessary.

 

The Leadership Council has two sub-committees:  Communication & Marketing, and Special Events Planning. 

 

 

Steering Committee

 

The Steering Committee assists in the development of the annual strategic plan for SBCV.  Members include the Task Force Chair from each locality, a liaison to the Leadership Council and other representatives of early childhood providers in Central Virginia.

City / County Task Force

 

 

SBCV serves the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, and Nelson, and the city of Lynchburg.  Each geographic area has an active Task Force focused on meeting the needs of children and preparing every child to succeed in school.

 

 

Early Care and Education Committee

 

The ECEC, using an annual professional development needs assessment, with input from the VSQI Coordinator and Quality Improvement Plans, plans an annual program of training and development. 

Monthly two-hour trainings are offered along with an annual early childhood educator conference.

Special Events Committee

 

 

The Special Events Committee is a sub-group of the Leadership Council, although any Smart Beginnings member may participate in planning events.

 

Annual Events include:

  • Read for the Record

  • Are YOU Smarter than a Third Grader?

  • Week of the Young Child

 

Other activities may be added.
